Beech Springs Intermediate School
Austin Monroe is a recent graduate of North Greenville University where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. He is entering his first year of teaching as the music teacher at Beech Springs Intermediate School. Austin is excited to begin his career in education and gain memorable experiences.
Austin is a 2013 graduate of Byrnes High School where he served 5 years in the Rebel Regiment; 3 years as a member of the baritone section and 2 years as Drum Major. Throughout his time as a student in Spartanburg District 5, he was a member of the All-Region and All-State Band, Rookie of the Year for the Rebel Regiment in 2009, and the recipient of the John Philip Sousa award his senior year.
During his time at NGU, he majored in Music Education with a focus on euphonium and piano. He was a member NGU’s tuba/euphonium quartet and studied under the direction of Mr. John Sizemore. In addition to his study with euphonium, Austin often accompanied soloists and was selected as the pianist for Joyful Sound. During his last semester, he completed his student teaching experience at Berry Shoals Intermediate School under the leadership of Mr. Jonathan Valentine. His professional affiliations include NAfME, SCMEA, and SCBDA. Austin is excited and expectant of all that is to come for Spartanburg District 5’s music program during the 2017-2018 school year.
