Melanie Wells earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Furman University and her Master of Music Degree from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University in Ashland, OR. While studying in Oregon, Mrs. Wells had the opportunity to learn from some of the best clarinetists in the profession, including Robert Spring and Ray Chapa. While at Furman, she studied under Dr. Robert Chesebro. 

 

Mrs. Wells has performed under the baton of Frank Ticheli, Brian Balmages, Jan Van der Roost, Johan de Meij, Anthony Maiello, Paula Crider, and Lowell Graham. Mrs. Wells currently maintains a private lesson studio comprised of students in Spartanburg, Greenville, and Pickens County. Her students consistently place into Region and All-State Band, and many have earned college scholarships. Prior to becoming a full-time private lesson instructor and freelance musician, Mrs. Wells served as a band director in Spartanburg District Six and York District One. She loves teaching privately and being able to tailor lessons to each student’s needs. It is her goal to help each student realize their full potential as musicians.

 

Mrs. Wells offers lessons for clarinet and bass clarinet.
