Band Director

Lily McGee is the Co-Director of Bands at Berry Shoals Intermediate School. At Berry Shoals, Mrs. McGee primarily teaches 5th and 6th grade brass students and co-teaches the Berry Shoals Honor Band. Prior to teaching in District Five, she spent five years teaching in both Lexington One and Union County. Mrs. McGee is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with a Certificate in Trumpet Performance. As an undergraduate, she performed as a semi-finalist in the small-ensemble division of the National Trumpet Competition. She is currently beginning her Master of Education in Applied Learning and Instruction at the University of South Carolina Upstate.


Outside of teaching, Mrs. McGee enjoys performing as a member of the Palmetto Concert Band, an ensemble made up of professional and semi-professional musicians throughout South Carolina. When she is not teaching or performing, she enjoys running, discovering new places to eat and listen to music, reading, and visiting her family in her hometown in Northern Virginia.


She and her husband live in Spartanburg with their Catahoula Leopard Dog, Bailey.
