Will Archie is a native of Rock Hill, SC where he has taught High School Social Studies at Northwestern High School for 15 years. Mr. Archie started his guard career in 1999 as an assistant instructor for Rock Hill High School. In 2002, he became the Director of Colorguards at Northwestern High School. During his tenure at Northwestern, the marching guard and winter guards have won numerous awards and championships including the SCBDA 4A State Championship in 2008. In 2014, Mr. Archie took over as the Director of Colorguards at Rock Hill High School, as well as Northwestern. Mr. Archie is also the Director of the District Independent Winterguard who is a 2-time WGI finalist. Mr. Archie is an active choreographer, consultant, designer, and adjudicator in North and South Carolina. In 2018, The Carolina Winter Ensemble Association awarded Mr. Archie with the Sport of the Arts Award for his committed dedication to the world of pageantry. Mr. Archie serves as an advisory board member for the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association. He is married to Elise and together they have 2 two daughters, Mackenzie and Hayden.
Elise Archie graduated from Winthrop University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Education. She created the dance program at Rawlinson Road Middle School in Rock Hill in 2005 and the dance program at Northwestern High school in 2015. She also has a Master’s degree in K-12 Multi-categorical Special Education. Elise has worked with and taught many groups & high schools throughout the state of SC as a guest clinician and choreographer. She has been a co-director of the award-winning Northwestern Colorguard and Northwestern Purple Regiment since 2003. She also serves as a co-director for the Rock Hill High School Band of Distinction Colorguard program. Elise is a co-director of The District Independent Winterguard that was ranked 5th in the nation during the 2017 season. Elise has had some of her work published from Artopia to Dance Teacher Magazine. She has worked with many well-known choreographers such as Alonzo King, Amy Marshall, Abby Lee Miller, Mia Michaels, Teddy Forance & Carol Abohatab.
The Rebel Regiment Color Guard is made up of some of the finest students at Byrnes and represents our school, district, and community throughout South Carolina and across the country. The Byrnes Color Guard is made up of approximately 50 students, grades 8-12, who perform alongside our percussionists and wind players as part of the James F. Byrnes Rebel Regiment Marching Band.
